Job Purpose:

The main purpose of a Senior Inspector, Cranes & Manlifts position is to oversee, lead and perform inspections, ensuring compliance and providing expert recommendations, while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and compliance in cranes and manlifts inspections and promoting continuous improvement in inspection practices.

Job Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs advanced inspections of mobile cranes (Liebherr and Tadano), manlifts and aerial work platforms (i.e. Genie and zoomlion) in accordance with OEM standards, and customer requirement.
  • Receives the demobilized equipment, conducts the full inspection, and raises Maintenance request form through the system to maintenance department.
  • Follows up, tracks, and updates the MRF status with the concerned department.
  • Inspects thoroughly the cranes /MEWP functions and components after the repair tasks and prior to sending the equipment to ready line. 
  • Takes responsibility and ensures that the equipment is fully operational as per the OEM standards and requirements. 
  • Conducts visual and technical inspections, functional tests, to identify any defects, wear and tear, or potential hazards.
  • Responds promptly to inspection requests prior to the mobilization and be available on call 24/7.
  • Performs daily inspection for the ready line equipment to ensure its readiness and to report any findings prior to the mobilization.
  • Inspects the equipment using inspection techniques and tools (calipers, sheave gauge).
  • Evaluates and checks the condition and performance of crane components (hoists, hooks, hydraulic and electrical system, controls, and safety devices) and manlift components (platforms, guardrails, controls, safety devices, hydraulic and electrical systems).
  • Communicate effectively with the crane operators, maintenance personnel, and his superiors to convey inspection findings, explain safety concerns, and provide recommendations for corrective actions. 
  • Provides training and guidance to junior inspectors.
  • Completes the documentation in line with set procedures, maintaining records and proper reporting (verbal and email communication).
  • Performs commissioning inspection, and proof load tests for the new equipment.
  • Travels between company’s yards for inspection and testing.
  • Collaborates with maintenance and operations teams to address identified issues promptly and efficiently. Able to pick up new systems quickly that may be very technical.
  • Reads and understands the load chart, the operational manual, and the equipment configuration to ensure its readiness. 
  • Prepares detailed inspection reports for the ready line equipment.
  • Participates in training programs and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills related to crane inspection techniques and technologies.
  • Promotes safety awareness among personnel and reports any safety concerns or incidents to the appropriate authorities.
  • Performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned by his/her direct manager.

 

HSE Responsibility:

  • Identifies any Health, Safety or Environmental risks and recommends and implements measures and solutions to mitigate these risks.
  • Complies with established health and safety guidelines and procedures and ensures the health, safety and welfare of self and others.
  • Identifies and reports to management any Health, Safety or Environmental risks and makes suggestions to address these risks and cooperate with his/her supervisor’s instructions.

 

QHSE Authority:

  • Contribute to the QMS: to contribute to the effectiveness of the quality management system (QMS) by implementing processes in accordance with their roles and responsibilities.
  • Participate in Training and Apply Competence: to participate in training programs to develop and maintain the necessary competence for their roles, and to apply their competence to perform work activities and contribute to the effectiveness of the QMS.
  • Follow Procedures and Control of Production and Service Provision: to follow documented procedures and work instructions relevant to their work.
  • Report Changes and Nonconformities: to report any changes in their work environment or processes that could affect the conformity of AMHEC's products or services, report any nonconformities and suggest corrective actions to prevent their recurrence.

 

Qualification:

  • Diploma in related discipline.
  • Completion of LEEA certificate will be an advantage.
  • 2-4 years of experience as crane and manlift inspector with a strong understanding of crane and manlift operation, maintenance, and safety standards.
  • Solid foundation in understanding crane and manlift operations, safety requirements, and inspection techniques.
  • Must be able to thoroughly examine and assess crane and manlift components, identify defects or wear, and accurately document the findings.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance at sites, meetings and at the office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise inspection reports. 
  • Effective Time Management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Managing multiple inspections and projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced computer skills (outlook, MS word, Excel).
  • GCC experience & valid driving license are desired.
